He has joined the governance of JA Africa, which comprises 16 accomplished professionals who oversee the strategic direction of JA programs in 15 Sub-Saharan African countries<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As East Africa Cluster Head, Mr. Mugambi has\noversight on Citi\u2019s presence country businesses in Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia\nas well as the non-presence country businesses in Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti,\nRwanda and Burundi. He was previously the Group Executive Director of the\nCommercial Bank of Africa (CBA) Limited. He first joined Citi in 2001 as Vice\nPresident of Corporate &amp; Investment Banking (CIB), East Africa. He went on\nto hold a number of senior positions in Citi including Managing Director &amp;\nHead of Corporate Finance in Citi\u2019s Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) business in South\nAfrica, as well as CEO for Citibank Zambia Limited.<sup><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Head of Corporate Finance, Mr. Mugambi\u2019s\nportfolio encompassed the full spectrum of international and domestic corporate\nfinance products and services for over 35 countries in Africa that Citi\noperates in on a presence &amp; non-presence basis. He had responsibility for\nthe end-to-end origination, structuring, execution and distribution of\ncross-border and domestic corporate finance transactions in the SSA region by\nprocuring investors in the form of international, regional and local financial\ninstitutions. &nbsp;These institutions include\nbanks, insurance companies, multilateral and bilateral financial institutions\nand other non-traditional investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He worked with Chase Manhattan Bank (now\nJPMorgan Chase) for 3 years, focusing on both advisory and structured finance\nroles. As part of his international rotational assignments, he spent time in\nthe London and South Africa offices of Chase.<sup><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Mugambi obtained an MBA in Finance as well\nas a Bachelors of Science (BSc.) in Business Administration from Duquesne\nUniversity in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to joining the Africa Board, he served JA\non the Board of Zambia while he worked in that country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Citi Foundation is one of JA Africa\u2019s largest\nfunders. Citi funds JA\u2019s work as part of Citi Foundation\u2019s Pathways to Progress\ninitiative. The Citi Foundation invests in programs that help young people pursue\ntheir career and economic ambitions by connecting them to on-ramps to\nopportunity.
