In line with Delta Air Lines\u2019 support of Junior Achievement\u2019s work in a number of markets around the globe, Delta strengthened its commitment to education by expanding its partnership to Junior Achievement Africa. JA (Junior Achievement) Africa has received a grant from Delta Air lines to support its youth economic empowerment programs in Sub-Saharan Africa. One of the programs funded was the Digital Company Program in JA South Africa which delivers the Company Program manuals electronically.<\/p>\n

Two schools, Waverley Girls High and McAuley Girls High took part in the program. Two companies were formed, namely Logistive Ladies<\/em> who produce an organic cloth cleaner that helps customers to clean any stain and Technological Phenomenal Compounds<\/em> producing
\nPocket Stationary, an all in one exam pack\/tool that solves a problem learners face of not being allowed to bring their pencil cases in the exam room and furthermore, for learners to have all they need for\u00a0classroom work.<\/p>\n

Both companies completed their market their market research process and are currently in production.
\nThe JA Company Program\u00ae teaches students how to start and run their own businesses, developing and marketing a product or service with the guidance of a local business volunteer\/mentor. The promise of the JA Company Program\u00ae is that it provides young people an alternative opportunity at a viable livelihood, which in many countries they see as being either as a civil servant working in government, or as a lawyer or doctor, which is not always attainable. Data suggests that a small fraction of the population is naturally entrepreneurial. If we can help that fraction create successful companies, they will create jobs for the rest of the unemployed population.<\/p>\n
