<\/p>\nThe Alliance for African Partnership is a new project at Michigan State University that will establish a collaborative and diverse platform for addressing today\u2019s global challenges. The Alliance will use new models of engagement for shared research and outreach , while improving the resources and capacities of African universities, institutions, and scholars.<\/p>\n
MSU is partnering with the University of Dar es Salaam to launch the Alliance for African Partnership initiative this July in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Focused on the theme of \u201cPutting Vision into Action Together,\u201d the launch will build on AAP’s mission to bring about positive change in Africa through meaningful partnerships. A CALL TO ACTION<\/p>\n
In celebration of the launch, The Alliance for African Partnership in partnership with MSU\u2019s Youth Empowerment Program invites youth to participate in an essay contest. The contest is open to all African citizens between the ages of 15-24. The essay contest provides a space for the youth of Africa, and the next generation of leaders in the region, to contribute to important discussions about leadership, partnership, and African development. The first place winner will travel to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to receive their award at the AAP Gala Evening on 19 July 2017, which will be attended by leaders from academia, civil society and the public and private sectors. The winner will be asked to read the winning essay at the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cWorking Together to Create the Africa We Want!\u201d<\/p>\n
The essay should respond to the above topic by presenting a vision for the Africa you want. Describe the partnerships needed to make this vision come true. What are some obstacles to achieving your vision? What role do you think you need to play? Who else needs to be involved?<\/p>\n
