The Controller ensures the integrity of consolidated and standalone financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and supports the organization\u2019s strategic goals by providing relevant and reliable financial information. This position requires a leader adept at managing complex financial systems while upholding the values of transparency and accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Financial Management and Reporting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Prepare accurate and timely consolidated and standalone financial reporting in accordance with\u00a0 International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Prepare financial consolidations, including preparation of eliminating entries, ensuring accurate integration of financial data across multiple entities and currencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Develop and maintain financial controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure integrity in financial reporting.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the CEO, VP Finance, budget owners, and other key stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Support the VP Finance in overall financial stewardship of the consolidating\/subsidiary-level entities (e.g., Rwanda), including building subsidiary finance teams and performing interim roles during transitions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Oversee monthly closings, approve journal entries, account reconciliations, issue payments, and follow up as appropriate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Audit, Compliance, and Risk Management<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including PAYE and other tax filings, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) audits, grant reporting, and donor requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Lead the coordination of external audits and address issues in collaboration with the VP Finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Oversee and ensure the timely submission of reports to funders, working closely with the Finance Manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Systems and Process Optimization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022Assist the VP, Finance, in improving financial policies and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Support the VP Finance in assisting country-level finance teams to ensure consistent financial management practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 CA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.7<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Proven track record in nonprofit financial management, including grant accounting and donor reporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Experience with international financial operations, including managing multi-currency and multi-entity consolidations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Strong knowledge of IFRS and regulatory frameworks for nonprofits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Proficiency in financial management systems (Sage Intacct) and advanced Excel skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, timeliness, analytical, and problem-solving skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders from various backgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Experience leading and managing remote teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lagos, Nigeria<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Submission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kindly submit your CV to <strong><a>recruitment@ja-africa.org<\/a><\/strong> by <strong>10 April 2026<\/strong>.
