This role offers hands-on exposure to corporate legal operations, compliance, risk management, and governance within a pan-African non-profit organisation. The Intern will assist with legal research, documentation, compliance monitoring, and general legal processes to ensure organisational operations align with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This position is ideal for a lawyer with two to three years of experience seeking to deepen their experience in legal drafting, contract review, corporate governance, and risk functions within the development and education sector.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Legal Support&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Assist in conducting legal research on corporate, regulatory, labour, and compliance-related issues.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Support in drafting, reviewing, and proofreading legal documents, including contracts, MoUs, NDAs, policies, and internal memos.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Maintain and organise legal files, databases, and document repositories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Maintain schedules for contract renewals, etc\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Compliance &amp; Risk Management&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Support the monitoring of compliance with organisational policies, donor requirements, and applicable regulations across operational countries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Assist in tracking and updating compliance checklists and risk registers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Support internal audits and compliance reviews as required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Governance Support&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Provide support in preparing documentation for Board and Committee meetings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Assist in reviewing governance documents such as charters, policies, and frameworks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Support the implementation and tracking of governance action points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Administrative Support\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Schedule meetings, take minutes, and support coordination with internal stakeholders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Assist in preparing reports and presentations for the Legal &amp; Risk function. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Perform general administrative duties as assigned by the General Counsel and Head of Risk.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications &amp; Requirements&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Two to three years post-qualification experience\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Basic knowledge of corporate law, compliance, and governance principles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Strong research and legal writing skills.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Strong communication and interpersonal skills.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Desirable Skills&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Interest in non-profit, development, or education sectors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Familiarity with risk management concepts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Basic understanding of international legal and compliance frameworks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Competencies\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Analytical and critical thinking&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Professional ethics and confidentiality&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Time management and prioritisation&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Teamwork and collaboration&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cf Proactiveness and willingness to learn<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reporting Line&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Legal Intern will report directly to the General Counsel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Location &amp; Duration\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Location<strong>: <\/strong>Lagos, Nigeria\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duration<strong>: <\/strong>1 year<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Deadline: 12th December 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Department: Legal, Risk &amp; Compliance\u00a0 Role Summary&nbsp; The Legal Intern will provide administrative and legal support to the General Counsel\/Head of Risk and Compliance at Junior Achievement Africa.
