Request for Proposal: Videography Services for JA Social Equity Program Impact Documentary

Introduction

Junior Achievement (JA) Africa invites qualified videography vendors to submit proposals for the production of a high-level documentary highlighting the impact of the JA Social Equity Program (SEP) over the past three years.

The documentary will showcase how SEP has empowered thousands of marginalized African youth, particularly those Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET), by equipping them with entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work-readiness skills. Through storytelling and visuals, the documentary should demonstrate how these young people are driving social change within their communities.

Program Background

The JA Social Equity Program is a cross-cutting initiative for underserved young people aged 16–25. SEP provides hands-on experiences, mentorship, and opportunities to design and manage social enterprises or businesses that solve local problems. By fostering collaboration, confidence, and entrepreneurial thinking, SEP has helped young Africans transform their futures and create ripple effects in their communities.

Scope of Work

The selected vendor will be responsible for:

  • Concept Development & Scriptwriting: Work with JA Africa to develop a compelling storyline and production script aligned with SEP’s impact narrative.
  • Filming & Production: Capture high-quality video footage across nine program countries: Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Liberia, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Togo.
  • Localization Needs: Provide French-speaking team members or resources to conduct interviews and narrations in francophone countries.
  • Editing & Post-Production: Deliver a polished, broadcast-quality documentary, including graphics, subtitles, voice-overs, and music.
  • Final Deliverables:
    • One full-length documentary (10–15 minutes) in 4k resolution
    • 2-3 Shorter cut-downs (2–5 minutes each) in HD (1080p) for YouTube, social media, and donor engagement.
    • English subtitles for non-English interviews; preference for English voiceovers when interviewees speak languages other than English.

Branding & Ownership Requirements

  • Production must align with JA Africa and SEP co-branding guidelines (logos, colors, fonts, intro/outro animations).
  • Ownership: JA Africa retains full rights to all raw footage and final outputs.
    • Vendors may not use footage for personal portfolios or attribution without written authorization.
    • JA Africa may reuse raw footage for future content.
  • JA Africa may issue recommendation letters, but vendors cannot self-use the footage without approval.

  • Proven track record in producing high-level documentaries, preferably with a pan-African or global scope.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multi-country filming projects, with local or subsidiary presence in Africa as an advantage.
