Access to digital learning remains one of Africa’s greatest challenges, but it’s also one of its biggest opportunities. That’s why this moment means so much.
JA Africa’s Digital Entrepreneurship Education Platform (JA DEEP) has officially surpassed 100,000 course completions and certificates issued across the continent, a remarkable milestone that reflects young Africans’ growing appetite for practical, accessible, and future-ready learning.
Built with underserved youth in mind, JA DEEP delivers self-paced modules in entrepreneurship, employability, and financial literacy that can be accessed on any device. Recognizing that millions of young people struggle with data costs and unstable connectivity, the platform was designed to be lightweight, mobile-friendly, and data-efficient, with data support provided in many areas to make access seamless. This design ensures that youth with limited or no internet connectivity are not excluded from learning opportunities.
While many completions come from participants of the Social Equity Program (SEP), where JA DEEP is an integral part of the curriculum, thousands of other learners outside formal programs continue to enroll, underscoring the platform’s growing role as a gateway to digital empowerment.
According to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in low-income countries only 27 percent of the population uses the internet, a gap that limits access to education, employment, and entrepreneurship for millions of young people. By providing a low-bandwidth, affordable digital solution, JA DEEP helps bridge this divide, giving learners who might otherwise be left behind a fair chance to gain essential skills and certification.
Earlier this year, JA Africa expanded JA DEEP’s technical capacity from 1,000 to 10,000 concurrent users, paving the way for this record level of participation and completion.
