- Country: Country Executive Director, JA Rwanda (Dotted Line)
Reporting Evolution:
- Year 1: Reports primarily to the ROC (Regional Operating Center) for seamless execution of digital projects, with 20% reporting into JA Rwanda
- Year 2 Onwards: Transition to 70-80% reporting into the JA Rwanda Country Office, with 20-30% reporting to the ROC for project oversight where additional resources are needed.
Role Overview
JA Africa is looking for a Digital Project Manager to lead the execution of high-impact digital transformation initiatives that will expand its digital reach and engagement, particularly in Rwanda. The role will involve successfully planning, implementing, and optimising digital platforms that enhance JA Africa’s interaction with schools, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
In the first year, the focus will be on seamless project delivery, ensuring all digital projects are executed efficiently. From the second year, the JA Rwanda Country Office will define local targets, with the ROC providing additional support where necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership & Execution: Manage the end-to-end delivery of multiple digital projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
- Strategic Planning & Implementation: Develop detailed project roadmaps, establish key milestones, and oversee execution across all assigned projects.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the central liaison between internal teams, external vendors, and technical consultants for platform development and integration.
- Training & User Support: Provide training and support to the team on the new platforms, ensuring successful adoption and functionality.
- Risk & Compliance Management: Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with best practices and digital governance.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including risk logs, technical specifications, and periodic progress reports for senior management.
Key Projects (Year One Focus)
The Digital Project Manager will oversee several major digital transformation initiatives, including:
- LMS Upgrade: Enhancing the Moodle-based Learning Management System (LMS) for a better user experience.
- Career Connect Platform Enhancement: Optimizing the JA Career Connect platform to improve career pathways for youth.
- Volunteer Management Platform: Developing a digital solution to streamline volunteer engagement and impact tracking.
- Knowledge-Sharing Hub: Building an internal knowledge repository for cross-network learning and best practices.
- Additional Digital Initiatives: Supporting other emerging projects as required.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5 – 8 years of experience managing digital projects, preferably in the nonprofit, education, or development sectors.
- Proven track record in successfully leading multiple concurrent platform implementation projects.
- Technical proficiency in Moodle LMS or similar educational technologies is a strong advantage.
- Project Management Expertise: Experience working with methodologies like Agile, PRINCE2, or Scrum.
- Software Proficiency: Strong command of project management tools like Jira, Trello, Asana and collaboration platforms like Microsoft Teams or Slack.
- Stakeholder Management: Ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across diverse cultural contexts.
- Training & Capacity Building: Experience providing training and support to teams on new digital platforms.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Digital Project Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Project Management Certification (PRINCE2, PMP, Agile) preferred.
- Fluent in English (French is an advantage).
